The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

Great Boot!

Posted by:  Traci Aug 31, 2009
Great boot for going over the top of jeans and has a nice flat heel for winter walking. Is about a 1/2 size to big so order smaller than you think.

Incredible! Perfect fit.

These boots are everything I hoped for. They hit about 1.5 inches below the knee, a little higher than most "mid-calf" boots which looks great. If you have larger calves like me they are a great fit, and they still have a slight flare at the top (they don't grip your calves) which is the look i was going for. If you don't like your boots a little wide at the calf these are not for you.
The sole IS thin and doesn't have any traction, so they can be a bit slippery, but I think it is decent quality contrary to what other reviewers have said. I wear an 8.5 or a 9, I got an 8.5 and they are perfect. Felt snug at first and i was worried but they immediately broke in and even feel a little spacious now. They are a bit stiff behind the ankle so it starts to irritate if i walk a lot.
Very Olsen-twin-esque...very urban/stylish.

Decided against keeping

Frye's size 11s seem to run on the small side. I also returned this because the shoe's bottom seemed flimsy and, at this price point, the boot did not exactly seem worth it. I was hoping for something that at least looks like it wouldn't decompose when briefly exposed to rain. This was not my boot. Re durability, it seems like an item you wear occasionally, or wear often and constantly get resoled. I'd read other customer comments in various locations online and many attest to how the sole on Paige Buckles is rather problematic.

Great shoe!

These boots are great. I'm 5'8" and the boots hit right below the knee. The width of the calves are perfect. I have average calves and I can wear these boots with jeans or tights and still have a bit a room, which I like. The soles are slippery, like others have said, but once you wear them a bit, it's fine.

I usually wear an 8 and I got an 8, but it is a little bit big, even with socks.

The shoes can take some breaking in, but overall, I enjoy them. I got the dark brown and the color is a really dark and rich brown. Very good quality.

Very wide calf

This is a great looking boot, and excellent quality. However, I was disappointed that the calf was so wide (making it impossible to wear unless they were worn over thick jeans). The arch was very flat and the sole was dangerously slippery. Unfortunately, I had to return.

Great Pair of shoes

I ordered the boots in black last saturday (12/27) and they were on my doorstep today (monday-12/29)) by 11:00. Beautiful boot, comfortable too. Saw them on my sister first and she has them in dark brown. I have a serious issue finding boots that fit b/c I have big calfs and a prior medical condition has made one calf about two inches larger than the other. That's why, I tend go for the higher end boots b/c they usually fit me better. The only drawback to this boot for me are the soles and heel. They are scuffing the first day. I am a commuter and walk a lot. I go back and forth to the train, subway and to work. I am very hard on shoes and I know that this thin sole will not last so I am getting them re-soled and a new heel as we speak. For me I am taking the extra step b/c I know myself and I need to protect my investment ! But go for it -a good fitting shoe is worth it !

Great boots

I got the grey color and it is gorgeous, I have worn these a couple of times already and get compliments all the time. They are great with skinny jeans or dresses.

Definitely worth the money.

GORGEOUS FRYE BOOTS!!

Posted by:  Ford (Bethesda, MD) Oct 30, 2008
I LOVE this frye boots!! I got in Grey color and this grey color is the best and most gorgeous and beautiful in all other grey leather boots that i have been researching for everywhere in this year. Leather quality is just amazing as always frye do, and this grey color is the trend and this buckle style is such an adorable and cutest style ever i saw. I own over 100 pairs of boots, but this one is my newest favorite! Only one dark side on me is i am petit and thin and short, so i know this boots style is
better on taller person and average weight ladies, as this calf is very wide on my carves even tucked in skinny or reguar denim pants..(i am only 5.1 and 94lb) but this beautiful grey boots is too attractive to return..!i really cannot do and will not do this one this time. I LOVE Endless company and you are the best web store company now!! before i knew this site store, i have been using until now other famous shoes stores like Z, or O.S, SL, S.M, etc.. But This Endless.com store is best selection and service ever in my life, for my crazy collector life! :) Thank you so much!!!
