not happy

Posted by:  Pat (Oregon) Nov 14, 2009
The shoes fit fairly well. I needed good shoes for working, with consideration for walking on cement floors at a hospital. The edge of the shoe cuts into my ankles. The appearance makes me feel like I'm wearing men's shoes. Much too bulky. The tongue of the shoe is too short! My laces extend past the tongue so I have had to figure out a different way to lace them up. Basically, I am not happy but I did keep them. I'm hoping the ankle thing will stretch with time. I won't get these again.

Not usual New Balance quality

Posted by:  deborah stepelman Nov 9, 2009
The shoes/sneakers are too small, even though I have several other New Balance items the same size that are fine. Additionally, the way the ankle part is made, when on my foot, it makes me look like I have swollen ankles.
Unfortunately, I must return them.

Great shoe!

Very comfortable. Well constructed. I am very pleased with this shoe and will buy again.

Walking Shoe

The shoes fit true to size. However, it is bulkier than I thought it would be. I would like a more stream-lined walking shoe even if it is athletic. Thank you.

Good USA made shoe

This sure fits perfectly and is quality USA made. The velco model is good for arthritic fingers.

Oddly sized shoe

Posted by:  Cynthia T. (New York, NY United States) Apr 26, 2009
The New Balance official site is very clear about the lasts they use for shoes. The SL-2 last is specially designed to be narrow in the heel, wider in the midfoot and deeper in the toe box.

This shoe has the SL-2 last. Oddly, though, it is particularly wide in the heel, narrow in the midfoot and tight in the toes. I've tried two sizes of this, in a Wide. My feet should have been swimming in the size 9.

A very stiff, narrow shoe. A real disappointment from New Balance.
