The leather is a quality heavy leather, metal hardware is of great quality. The stitching is perfect and strong. Not too big and not too small so I think it will fit in with the trends whichever direction they go in. The 'Poppy' colour is not quite red and not quite pink, a sort of pinkie/red. So it can be used as either colour depending on what you put it with you can bring out the pink tones or the red ones. If there is any downside to this bag, the only thing I can say is that the top zippered part is narrower than the bottom of the bag so its a little tight putting things in and out but not too bad{I have a long wallet}. It's not a large purse which accounts for part of that. This bag is good for petite people because it doesn't overwhelm a small frame. It fits comfortably over my shoulder and has an upscale vibe. After this purchase I went on to buy the matching Cole Haan zip makeup bag in Poppy and two pairs of Cole Haan boots which I also love and are of great quality.
