The Frye Company is the oldest continuously operated shoe company in the United States. Founded in 1863 by John A. Frye, a well-to-do shoemaker from England, and family-run until 1945, Frye products have a long and illustrious history. Frye boots were worn by soldiers on both sides of America's Civil War, soldiers in the Spanish-American war, and by Teddy Roosevelt and his Rough Riders. When home-steading drew adventurous New England families to the West during the mid and late 1800's many of the pioneers wore Frye Boots for the long journey. Today Frye remains true to its roots with its line of heritage boots, but continues to innovate as it introduces chic new handbags, pumps, and sandals to its collection.

WORTH EVERY DIME (AND DOLLAR)

I love, love, love this boot! It's comfortable, and I've worn it all day. The heel is a tad wide, but that's easily remedied. The color is great - can be worn with brown, gray or black. I love it with a knee-length flouncy skirt.

Love these boots. I've worn them with leggings and skinny jeans so far. I did a lot of walking the first day and could not believe how comfortable they were. I wear a 7 and ordered a 6 1/2 after reading reviews and they fit perfect. I can't wait for next summer to wear them with a cute summer dress.

awesome look, comfort, but some concerns....

only 4 stars due to price.

too large in my usual size, 8.5. the 8's are a bit large and wide. got them to fit after tweaking with various inserts. i was bold enough to take them new to NYC and walked for several days without problem.

i agonized over keeping these. they're expensive. because i wear them with jeans and will never wear them with a skirt (they have wide shaft), the studding is a bit wasted since it's rarely seen. the studs are tiny ringed rivets and they are solidly attached. not too much bling but enough to make them unique.

the leather when new looks faux-painted, which might not be for everyone. after a week of solid wear including in light rain, the leather looks a bit crackly (i did treat them with a waterproofing wax that did not alter their color prior to them getting wet).

overall, i love them.
go for it if you have the $$$$

Beautiful boot

I really loved the look of these but they are just too wide for my feet. If you have slightly wide feet you are in luck because the color is fabulous and will go with blacks, browns and so many others.

So cute!

I found these to be almost true to size. Large enough for a boot insole, which they needed for padding and true to width. I wish the ankle/opening was a little slimmer, but that's my only complaint. They are adorable in person! I love the color--with the greys and browns they'll go with everything and the distressing is unique. I have many Frye's but these are the cutest so far!

Too distressed

The boots looked so chic and unique online. In person, however, the grey leather is too distressed for my taste. Too bad though because the idea of this multicolor stud detail on cowboy booties is so fun and funky. The quality and overall style/fit are true to Frye's other boots. In the end, the color was just too funky for me.
