Software Development Engineer – 025412 (Seattle, WA)

We are looking for passionate, talented and inventive software engineers to join the Endless.com development team. Endless.com is an exciting new website run by Amazon.com devoted exclusively to shoes and handbags. We use the latest web technologies to build what our customers tell us is the best online shoe store ever. We are looking for someone likes the challenge of taking something that is already great and making it even better. As a Software Development Engineer, you will analyze requirements, design, develop, troubleshoot, debug, deploy and document software components for Endless.com. You will work closely with other software engineers, QA and Support groups as well as Retail Business and Operations groups to develop top quality products that solve actual business and technology problems.

Qualifications

A successful candidate will have:
  • Rich hands-on programming experience in Java or another object oriented language and have a deep understanding of object oriented design.
  • Familiarity with design concepts such as design-patterns and the UML are also highly desirable
  • Experience with large scale web based systems including servlets and portlets
  • Knowledge of presentation layer technologies such as JavaScript and AJAX is desirable
  • A bachelor's degree in computer-science, engineering or mathematics is requirement with a preference toward graduate work in HCI or software engineering
  • Practical experience with software engineering best-practices and designing sites for speed, scale and stability is a big advantage.
